Partial Dentures in Los Angeles

Keeping the teeth you still have is the point.

Partials replace several missing teeth and blend with the natural teeth around them — which is what lets you avoid unnecessary extractions. Smile LA Downtown Modern Dentistry matches the replacements so they integrate with your existing smile rather than sitting next to it.

Why a partial

Why a partial rather than a full denture

The alternative to a partial is often removing sound teeth so that a full denture can seat properly. That is a real loss and worth resisting: your own teeth carry load into the jaw, which is what keeps the bone there; they hold the bite at the height it has always been; and they give the appliance something solid to locate against. A partial is designed around them rather than in place of them. It fills the gaps and clasps onto what is still there, which is why it is both more stable than a full denture and less of a change to live with. Keeping natural teeth is almost always the better long-term position, even when it makes the appliance more complicated to make.

  • Avoids unnecessary extractions The single strongest argument for it.
  • Matched to your existing teeth Shape and color, so the join is not the first thing you see.
  • No-metal options Where a metal framework is not wanted.
  • Custom-made from quality materials Built to look natural and to last.
The teeth it clasps

Looking after the teeth it clasps

A partial rests against your own teeth, so those teeth matter more than ever — keep up your exams and cleanings, because decay or gum disease in an anchoring tooth undermines the whole appliance.

The other options

Full dentures where a whole arch is gone, implant supported dentures for a fixed feel, and implants or a bridge where only one or two teeth are missing. Overview on dentures.

Partial Dentures FAQ

Will a partial damage my remaining teeth?
No — partials are designed to blend with the teeth you still have, and they help you avoid unnecessary extractions.
Will it be obvious?
The replacement teeth are carefully matched to integrate with your existing smile.
Can I have one without metal?
Yes, no-metal partials are among the types we make.
Do I still need checkups?
More than ever. A partial rests against your own teeth, so decay or gum disease in one of those undermines the whole appliance.
