Job Description

Ozaukee County Clerk of Courts Office is looking for a dedicated and resourceful Jury Bailiff to join our team. 

A Jury Bailiff plays a key role to a fair and just system, ensuring the integrity of our legal process. You will collaborate with judges, court clerks, attorneys and other law enforcement professionals to ensure a smooth operation in the courtroom during a jury trial.  You will experience diverse jury trial cases, from civil disputes to major trials. You will witness our legal system first hand. 

This position is Part-Time as needed (depending on court calendar).
Starting Wage  $16.17

Job duties will include:
· Prepare the Court Room and Jury Deliberation Room the day of the trial.
· Check Jurors in as they report for jury service.
· Accompany the Jurors to the Court Room for the Voir Dire (the selection of jury).
· Assists with the transfer of documents during jury selection.
· Will be sworn in by the Court to supervise and escort the chosen jurors during the trial proceedings, recesses, and deliberations and ensures that no unauthorized persons come into contact with the jurors.
· Serves as a point of contact for jurors and assists with any needs that may arise during the jury trial.
· Escorts the jurors throughout the day.
· Upon completion of the trial day; responsibilities include proper disposal of jurors’ notes, cleaning courtroom and jury deliberation room and restocking jury supplies.
· Performs other duties as assigned.

· General knowledge of the court system.
· Ability to follow directions/instructions.
· Ability to work with a variety of people.
· Ability to apply common sense and understanding to carry out instructions in written and oral form.
· Ability to work effectively in a courtroom setting.
· May be required to work outside of traditional business hours.
· Must have ability to interact positively with judges, court staff, attorneys and general public.
· Ability to maintain confidentiality (both inside and outside court).

Physical Requirements:
· Prolonged periods of sitting.
· May be asked to lift up to 20 lbs at times.
