Overview The BSA/AML Investigator will report to and assist the BSA Manager. The BSA/AML Investigator will investigate and report suspicious activity that requires analysis based on risk categories, business rules, member profiles, known typologies, and operating procedures. The successful candidate will embrace change, be able to multi-task and complete assignments on time, work independently, and exhibit strong work ethic.
Responsibilities - Investigate and analyze multiple information streams to make the determination that activity is or is not suspicious.
- Prepare well-written Suspicious Activity Report (SAR) and No SAR narratives that clearly articulate the reasoning behind said determination.
- Prepare SAR forms with exceptional attention to detail ensuring proper coding and classification of suspicious activity is aligned with statement of facts in the SAR narrative.
- Prepare Currency Transaction Reports (CTR) with exceptional attention to detail ensuring proper coding and classification of relevant fields.
- Maintain strict adherence to regulatory reporting timeline requirements and independently ensure that SAR and CTRs are submitted for Quality Assurance review within the scope of said timelines.
- Maintain a working knowledge of BSA/AML and Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) regulatory requirements and their contextual application to Patelco's BSA and OFAC Program.
- Conduct Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) reviews of Patelco business and individual membership relationships.
- Review OFAC, 314a and other watch lists alerts to establish false positive determinations or take appropriate action on true match scenarios
- Ability to perform transaction analysis and identify suspicious activity through understanding of industry known money laundering typologies.
- Working knowledge of financial fraud trends and typologies.
- Ability to conduct investigations by utilizing various resources, such as specialized software applications, reports, internal databases and open-source investigative techniques.
- Ability to read, interpret, and communicate financial and/or regulatory information.
- Ability to document findings in a centralized case management system, in a clear, concise and professional manner. This includes writing detailed narratives to support conclusions and attaching supporting documentation to alerts and/or cases.
- Ability to embrace change, work independently, and demonstrate good work ethics.
Qualifications - Minimum one year of prior BSA/AML, Enhanced Due Diligence and/or OFAC or related experience.
- Working knowledge of Verafin or similar case management and alerting analysis technology solution.
- Strong writing, research, analytical, organizational, investigative, oral, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong knowledge of banking operating practices (e.g., cash and non-cash deposit operations, electronic money movement, lending operations, etc.).
- Strong PC and software skills and an aptitude for learning bank operating systems.

- This position involves sitting most of the time.
- Employee must be able to read reports, manuals, and computer screens for extended periods of time.
- Hearing must be sufficient to comprehend information conveyed via telephone calls, webinars, and in person.
- Speech must be clear to convey information.
Highly Preferred Professional Certifications Qualifications: - Association of Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialists (ACAMS) designation
- BSA Compliance Specialist Certification
- Associate or bachelor's Degree or related field or equivalent work experience that directly relates to the functions of this position
- Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE)
- Former Law Enforcement experience
Target Base Pay $30.85/hr to $36.29/hr
