Web Development Manager (On-Site) Come join the growing Wilshire Law Firm team as the Manager of Web Development! You will report to the Director of Marketing, and the position is based in our Los Angeles office. This role is responsible for delivering exceptional web applications by leading a high-performing team of web developers. The ideal candidate will excel in collaborative team environments, possess a strong attention to detail, and demonstrate outstanding organizational skills. We’re seeking a hands-on Web Development Manager who not only has strong coding abilities but also embodies excellent leadership qualities, providing guidance and support to a top-tier team while ensuring high standards of accuracy and performance. The Web Development Manager will oversee three direct reports, including a Full Stack Web Developer, a Backend Web Developer, and a WordPress Developer, while also using technical Search Engine Optimization skills to optimize website functions and influence ranking on search engine results.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Lead and mentor a team of developers, guiding their professional growth and ensuring high-quality web applications are delivered. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to prioritize project requirements and implement best practices for coding, testing, and deployment. Provide hands-on coding support, maintaining and enhancing GatsbyJS/ReactJS websites, GraphCMS, and scalable Firebase backend functions. Oversee WordPress template development, optimizing for UX, SEO, responsiveness, and cross-browser compatibility. Ensure security, scalability, and integration of third-party services, while staying current with industry trends and emerging technologies. Develop technical documentation, monitor development processes, and continuously improve team efficiency and code quality. Monitor website rankings and collaborate with the marketing team on SEO strategy, technical execution, content creation, and search engine marketing initiatives. Foster a positive, collaborative, and team-oriented work environment, contributing to a culture of growth and innovation in the Los Angeles office. SKILLS Web Development Expertise: Strong knowledge of HTML/HTML5, CSS/CSS3, Bootstrap, JavaScript (React preferred), and frameworks like Angular and Vue. Client/Server Applications: Proficient in ReactJS, NodeJS, and client/server architectures. Database & API Integration: Experience with MySQL, phpMyAdmin, Salesforce API integration, and troubleshooting marketing tools. Coding & Debugging: Ability to write clean, well-commented code and debug both personal and team code contributions. Web Standards & Best Practices: Familiarity with OOCSS, BEM, SMACSS, and secure server/hosting environments. Problem-Solving & Analytical Thinking: Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities for resolving complex technical challenges. Effective Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to explain technical issues and solutions clearly. Multitasking & Flexibility: Ability to handle multiple tasks and adjust quickly to changing priorities in fast-paced environments. Team Management: Proven experience in leading and developing high-performing web development teams with a focus on collaboration and innovation. Experience with Tools: Familiarity with Salesforce API, WordPress, call tracking technology (e.g., Invoca, Call Rail), CDNs, and troubleshooting marketing and analytic tools. QUALIFICATIONS A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Web Development, or related field is required. A Master's or other advanced degrees in related fields is highly preferred. At least 7 years of experience in web development, with a proven track record in managing and leading development teams, ideally within a law firm or professional services environment. Strong experience with front-end and back-end technologies (e.g., HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React, NodeJS) and managing web projects from inception to deployment. Proven ability to manage and execute complex web development projects simultaneously, ensuring on-time delivery, quality, and alignment with business goals. Strong analytical skills to tackle complex technical challenges, optimize performance, and ensure high-quality user experiences across platforms. Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders and articulate technical concepts clearly.
