Job Description

This position seeks an experienced educator to provide specialized instruction and support to elementary students who are deaf or hard of hearing. The role is designed for the summer ESY (Extended School Year) session, facilitating continuity of learning and communication development during the break period.

Responsibilities include:

• Delivering tailored instruction to students with hearing impairments
• Collaborating with school staff and families to implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
• Utilizing assistive listening devices and communication strategies to enhance learning
• Monitoring and documenting student progress
• Creating an inclusive and supportive classroom environment

Qualifications:

• Certification or relevant credential in teaching students who are deaf or hard of hearing
• Experience working with elementary-aged children in educational settings
• Knowledge of appropriate communication methods, including sign language
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and manage flexible scheduling

Location and Commitment:

• Position based in Huntington Station, NY
• Contract duration: immediate start through August 15
• Commitment: 5 hours per week, with 10 owed hours to be scheduled flexibly within the timeframe
• The educator may determine their own schedule and make up owed hours at their convenience
