This position will assist with the runDisney Event Management Team, within course operations, in the planning and execution of events while collaborating with multiple partners across property. The selected candidate will assist with but not limited to course operations, roadway coordination, document creation, signage inventory, communication, and event management.

This position will report to a Sports Event Manager.

This is an hourly role that supports the runDisney Event Management Team.

What You Will Do

  • Perform daily tasks in preparation for race weekends including digital map creation, inventory lists, course design / certification, partner communication, and race day operational materials and equipment preparation.

  • Build and maintain positive relationships with internal and external partners, Cast Members, and vendors.

  • Design a variety of course and road closure maps for the runDisney Digital Event Guide and create Management presentation decks using tools such as PowerPoint, Google Earth, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign

  • Assist with overall new course design tailored to specific race distances, while considering and enhancing the overall runner experience. Support all course certification procedures and processes.

  • Compose all property partner e-mails to various departments and areas with specific race impact information for each race weekend. Respond to all inquiries and requests for continued race weekend impacts and maintain continuous communication channels to various areas.

  • Create overall event timeline grid for all weekend race days

  • During race execution, responsible for overall course activities, traffic pattern flow across Walt Disney World property, and oversight of runners and support staff by providing direction and leadership to various departments. Function as primary contact for all law enforcement units assigned to open/close roadways and access points as well as third-party vendors tasked to set and strike all roadway closures.

  • Support runDisney Event Management Team on-site during runDisney Events, which includes working non-traditional hours, holidays, and weekends.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Ability to work in a team environment and comfortable working independently with a strong attention to detail.

  • Confirmed organizational, critical thinking, problem solving and decision-making skills.

  • Proficient with office software applications; Microsoft Teams, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel, Smartsheet

  • Comfortable working outdoors for extended periods of time while assisting team members in event execution.

  • During event season, must have ability to adapt quickly and proactively to evolving events, and to thrive in a fast paced and high-pressure working environment.

  • Ability to lift 30 pounds.

  • Valid current U.S. driver’s license.

  • Ability to work overnights, holidays, weekends, and extended hours as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficient with or willingness to learn office software applications; Google Earth, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign

  • Prior event planning and operations experience

Education

  • High School Degree or equivalent

Preferred Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Sports Management
