About this opportunity:
Are you a college student interested in broadcasting and/or journalism? We'd love to consider you for a paid internship in our Spokane newsroom. Interns will learn all aspects of our industry, from creating and telling stories on television to how to present news across websites and social platforms. You'll work alongside some of the best journalists in Spokane. This isn't a "sit back and watch" internship. You'll get real-world experience that will prepare you for a career in this field.
Ideal candidates will be able to work various shifts in the newsroom, working at least 15-20 hours per week.
About the requirements of an internship:
Students must attend an accredited University, College, Community College or Vocational-Technical Institute.
Students must be at least 18 years old. Students in their Junior or Senior year of college are preferred.
Students must be in good academic standing.
All internships require a minimum of 15 hours per week covering a period of 10-16 weeks, depending on the school's quarter or semester length.
While KXLY considers the internship program a valuable tool for observing the student's talents, skills and abilities, it is understood that there are no guarantees of future employment.
Pay and benefits:
Pay range: $15.74/hour - $16.00/hour
Benefits: We offer interns 401(k) participation if eligible and 1 hour of sick time for every 40 hours worked.
