About Woodard & Curran

With hundreds of certified operators across the country, supported by engineers, scientists, and regulatory experts, Woodard & Curran quickly tackles complex operational challenges, ensuring that treatment plants run efficiently and remain in compliance with regulations. We also offer reimbursement for employees to earn, upgrade, and maintain their licenses and certifications within the industry.

Who we are looking for:

We are seeking a Lift Station Technician Trainee / Municipal FOG (Fats, Oils, and Grease) Program Trainee to join our team in LaBelle, Florida. FOG (Fats, Oils, and Grease) can create serious issues in sewer systems by clogging pipes, pumps, and equipment. This leads to blockages, costly repairs, and system failures. If not properly managed, FOG buildup can disrupt wastewater treatment, cause hazardous overflows, and harm the environment. Proper FOG management helps maintain system efficiency, lowers maintenance costs, and protects public health

This is a trainee role designed for individuals who are motivated to learn and develop technical skills in the operation, maintenance, and compliance of wastewater collection systems and FOG programs. The trainee will be required to complete all required training, obtain all pertinent certifications, and complete the USFOGA Certified Municipal FOG Coordinator training within 12 months of hire to take over the management of the City's FOG program.

If you're ready to start a career in wastewater management and FOG compliance, apply today and join our team at Woodard & Curran!

Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm, alternating on-call responsibility.

What you will be doing at Woodard & Curran:

  • Respond to emergency calls and perform corrective actions under supervision.
  • Assist with cleaning spills and applying chemicals in compliance with Federal, State, and Local regulations.
  • Work toward managing the City's FOG program, including inspections, compliance, and public outreach, upon completion of FOG certification.
  • Train alongside senior staff members and participate in ongoing training and development programs.
  • Maintain an inventory of frequently used parts and supplies.
  • Work collaboratively as part of a team to complete tasks professionally and efficiently.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What you need to succeed:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Florida Driver's License.
  • Strong interest in learning lift station maintenance and municipal FOG program compliance.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn maintenance methods, tools, and safety precautions.
  • Ability to read manuals, diagrams, specifications, and maps.
  • Willingness to obtain confined space training certification within one year.
  • Willingness to obtain CPR certification within one year.
  • Commitment to completing all required certifications and the USFOGA Certified Municipal FOG Coordinator training within 12 months of hire.
  • Successful candidates will be required to complete a background check, pre-placement physical, and drug screen before employment.

Physical Demands:
  • Ability to lift/carry up to 40 lbs. frequently and 25 lbs. constantly.
  • Frequent bending, squatting, kneeling, twisting, climbing, and reaching.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and traverse uneven terrain.

Work Environment:
  • Primarily outdoors with exposure to weather conditions, hazardous materials, and physical risks.

Training and Certification:
