Position Overview: Philanthropy is core to the Dutch Bros identity. As we scale our business and deepen our community impact, this role ensures our giving programs are not just transactionalbut transformational. The Director of Philanthropy will help define the future of how Dutch Bros gives back, engages employees and communities, and tells a story of purpose through every cup served.

The Director of Philanthropy will lead the strategic direction, execution, and impact measurement of all Dutch Bros philanthropic initiatives. This role oversees national and local giving programs, Foundation operations, nonprofit partnerships, and internal engagement. The Director ensures alignment with corporate values, business objectives, and community needs.

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Nonprofit Management, Communications, Business, or a related field; Master's preferred.
  • 58 years of leadership experience in philanthropy, corporate social responsibility, or nonprofit management.
  • Proven experience designing and leading large-scale giving programs and strategic partnerships.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to translate complex data into compelling impact narratives.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking and executive presentation experience.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

Location Requirement:

This role is located in Tempe, Arizona. This position is required to be in office 4 days per week (Mon-Thurs); Fridays are optional remote work days.

Key Result Areas (KRAs):

Strategic Leadership & Program Oversight:

  • Lead the planning and execution of all philanthropic programs and campaigns (e.g., Dutch Luv, Buck for Kids, Drink One for Dane).
  • Develop multi-year giving plans that balance proactive strategic investments and responsive community support.
  • Evaluate and adjust strategy based on impact data, stakeholder feedback, and emerging needs.
  • Oversee grant-making processes and giving strategy through the Dutch Bros Foundation.
  • Design and manage the end-to-end grantmaking process, including:
    • Application and eligibility criteria
    • Review and selection procedures
    • Approval workflows
    • Funding disbursement protocols
  • Create clear guidelines, timelines, and communication channels for applicants and grantees.
  • Ensure equitable access and transparency in all grantmaking activities.
  • Ensure programs are values-driven, brand-aligned, and yield measurable social impact.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to integrate philanthropy into broader corporate strategy and culture.

Foundation & Stakeholder Management:

  • Manage Foundation Board operations, communications, and reporting.
  • Oversee budget alignment, compliance, and transparent financial tracking for philanthropic initiatives.
  • Implement, manage, and optimize philanthropic software (e.g., Benevity) to streamline grantmaking, giving, and volunteer tracking.
  • Build and maintain relationships with nonprofit partners, funders, and community leaders.
  • Serve as a key spokesperson for the company's philanthropic mission and impact.

Data, Reporting & Impact Communication:

  • Develop and manage reporting systems to track donations, performance, and philanthropic outcomes.
  • Coordinate storytelling initiatives to elevate community impact stories internally and externally.
  • Develop metrics and KPIs to measure the effectiveness and impact of grant-funded programs.
  • Produce annual impact reports and field-facing dashboards in partnership with internal teams.

Team & Operational Management:

  • Lead and coach the Philanthropy teamensuring clarity of roles, strong performance, and individual growth.
  • Ensure timely and consistent execution of all administrative functions (e.g., donation requests, Benevity platform oversight).
  • Champion continuous improvement by refining systems, processes, and field engagement tools.

Physical Requirements:

  • In-Office Environment: Must be able to work in a busy, crowded, and loud office with frequent distractions and interruptions
    • Must be able to collaborate in-person with occasional impromptu in-person meetings
  • Office Conditions: Adaptability to typical office conditions, which may include exposure to air conditioning, heating, artificial lighting, and varying noise levels
  • Mobility: Ability to sit, stand, reach, twist, stretch, and work at a desk for long stretches. Must be able to occasionally move or lift office items up to 25 pounds
  • Hearing Requirements: Hearing must be sufficient or correctable to ensure clear understanding of spoken information, including participating in virtual meetings and phone calls. Use of hearing aids or other assistive devices is acceptable if needed.
  • Reading and Writing Proficiency: Ability to read and write in English is essential for processing documents, drafting reports, and following up on necessary actions. Proficiency in written communication is required to handle job-related tasks effectively.
  • Vision Requirements: Vision must be adequate or correctable to perform essential job duties, such as reading documents on a computer screen and using other visual tools. Use of corrective lenses or other measures to meet visual requirements is expected if needed.
  • Technology Proficiency: Must be proficient in operating a computer and other office productivity tools such as printers, scanners, and collaboration software.
  • Effective Communication: Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with team members, clients, and other stakeholders via email, video conferencing, and other in office communication tools.

Compensation:

$137,398 - DOE
