The Corporate Development team at Schwab supports the inorganic growth strategy by analyzing and executing acquisitions, divestitures, and strategic investments. The team has successfully completed numerous transactions, including acquisitions of USAA’s Investment Management Company assets and TD Ameritrade, creating a large-scale, full-service investment firm.

As a key member, the Corporate Development Director will evaluate opportunities, coordinate due diligence, assist in negotiations, and participate in transaction execution.

Responsibilities include:

  • Preparing detailed financial analyses of mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and strategic investments.
  • Creating presentations outlining the strategic and financial rationale for transactions for senior management and the Board.
  • Partnering with cross-functional teams to coordinate due diligence.
  • Coordinating communications among project teams, management, external advisors, and counterparties.
  • Negotiating NDAs and transaction-related agreements.
  • Collaborating with various business and functional areas on transaction analysis and execution.
  • Partnering with senior leaders to understand strategic goals.
  • Conducting industry analysis and landscape studies.
  • Contributing to team process improvements and training new members.

This role offers hybrid work flexibility, with in-office presence expected 4 days/week initially, transitioning to 3 days/week after six months.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years in investment banking, corporate development, management consulting, strategic finance, or valuation services.
  • Experience in financial analysis of M&A transactions.
  • Experience negotiating NDAs and related agreements.

Preferred:

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and research skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, cross-functional environment.
  • Interest in the financial services sector is preferred.
