About the Role
The Company is seeking a Chief Development Officer (CDO) to lead its fundraising efforts and champion the organization's mission of building more equitable communities. The CDO will be responsible for leading a team of over 15 professionals and must have a proven track record in nonprofit fundraising, with a focus on individual giving, major gifts, corporate partnerships, and special events. The role involves setting and achieving ambitious fundraising goals, with a target of raising at least $50 million annually. The ideal candidate will have progressive senior leadership experience in nonprofit fundraising, a strong understanding of the work of the organization, and a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. They should be adept at strategic and operational development planning, change management, and have exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. Key responsibilities for the CDO include expanding and diversifying fundraising efforts, refining and implementing a comprehensive organizational fundraising strategy, and working closely with the CEO and other key leaders to strengthen current efforts. The successful candidate will be a hands-on leader, capable of building and managing a complex team, and will be expected to thrive in a fast-paced environment. A bachelor's degree is required, with an advanced degree preferred, and the candidate should have a history of raising significant funds, including principal gifts. The CDO will also be expected to build and maintain strong relationships with the board, volunteers, and community leaders, and to represent the organization effectively to diverse audiences.
