Job Description

The Safety Specialist will be responsible for the following:

• Inspect or evaluate workplace environments, equipment, or practices to ensure compliance with safety standards and government regulations.
• Assist with implementation of company safety programs and ensure all plant personnel understand and follow proper policies and procedures.
• Participate in updating, developing, and implementing comprehensive health and safety programs and helping oversee them.
• Conduct safety audits and inspections on contractor-managed sites to ensure compliance with safety protocols.
• Foster a positive working relationship with outside agencies and contractors to enhance the overall safety culture in the plant.
• Lead EHS audits and inspections, developing corrective action plans as needed.
• Assist in building comprehensive management systems that measure compliance and performance and ensure continuous improvement.
• Conduct safety and environmental compliance assessments with third parties for sustainable programs.
• Recommend measures to help protect workers from potentially hazardous work methods, processes, or materials.
• Stay informed about industry best practices for safety and environmental management, implementing new strategies as necessary.
• Investigate incidents to identify causes or determine how such incidents might be prevented.
• Conducted hands-on training, CPR training, safety-related training, and new training materials and programs.
• Work with labor contractors to track safety incidents and create processes to reduce incidents.
